A sorcerer was arrested in Parwan Province on charges of taking US$165,000 from a woman

Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, have arrested a man accused of practising witchcraft in Sayd Khel District of Parwan Province, following investigations into public complaints and efforts to promote virtue and prevent vice.

Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Parwan Provincial Directorate of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue stated that several items and objects allegedly associated with witchcraft were seized from the suspect.

According to the officials, the findings indicate that he had been involved in causing discord and separation between married couples.

During the investigation, the arrested individual reportedly confessed to receiving USD 165,000 from a woman living in the United States.

The money was allegedly paid to him to use witchcraft to facilitate her separation from her first husband and arrange her marriage to another person.

Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue in the province added that ministry inspectors had previously issued warnings and advised the individual to stop such activities.

However, he reportedly ignored their instructions and continued his alleged witchcraft-related practices.

As a result, following further investigations, the ministry's inspectors (Muhtasibs) arrested the suspect and referred him to the provincial Sharia Court for proceedings and a decision in accordance with Islamic Sharia rulings.

Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Parwan Provincial Directorate of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice and Hearing of Complaints emphasized that the ministry's inspectors would continue their efforts to implement Islamic Sharia rulings, promote virtue, prevent vice, combat superstitious practices and prevent the exploitation of people's beliefs.
