Muhtasibs ensured that 22 women in five provinces received their inheritance, maintenance, and Mahr rights
Inspectors (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, have ensured that 22 women in the provinces of Ghor, Takhar, Ghazni, Zabul and Balkh received their Islamic legal rights to inheritance, maintenance and dowry, in accordance with the six-article decree issued by the Amir al-Mu'minin and the ministry's commitment to safeguarding women's rights.
The women had long-standing unresolved cases concerning their Islamic rights against their brothers and other family members.
Officials stated that the women had been demanding their rightful shares of inheritance, maintenance and dowry from their brothers and relatives for a long time.
Despite repeated efforts, they had been unable to obtain their rights. However, through the efforts and intervention of the ministry's inspectors, they were finally able to receive their legitimate Islamic entitlements.
Officials further stated that they would make every effort to ensure that all women's Islamic rights are fulfilled and that no one would be allowed to engage in violent or abusive behaviour against women.
