Arrangements made for the lawful Islamic marriage of five young women in Baghlan, Kunduz, Ghazni, and Badakhshan provinces

Officials of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing Complaints of IEA, in the provinces of Ghazni, Baghlan, Kunduz, and Badakhshan, in commitment to women’s rights, prevented five non-Sh/ar/ia marriages in these provinces and ensured that the women received their legitimate Is/la/mic rights.

Officials stated that these women had been forced into unlawful marriages based on meaningless notions of honor and harmful customs, but the responsible authorities from the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue intervened and stopped these marriages.   They also urged family members to refrain from carrying out such harmful practices in the future.

The officials further assured that they will continue to intensify their efforts to safeguard all religious values in society, especially the legitimate rights of women.

Meanwhile, local residents consider these actions an important step toward ensuring social justice, preventing violence against women, and particularly stopping forced marriages.
