Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, in the provinces of Kabul, Balkh, and Parwan, following the receipt of numerous public complaints, identified and arrested three individuals accused of practicing witchcraft.
The suspects were detained along with books and equipment related to sorcery in Bagrami district of Kabul province, Gushanda district of Balkh province, and Bagram district of Parwan province.
While arresting these individuals, officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue stated that, based on the documents and evidence obtained, the accused sorcerers had been engaging in activities contrary to Is/la/mic law and promoting superstitions, which had misled a number of citizens. After public complaints were registered and the necessary investigations and inquiries were conducted, the suspects were legally prosecuted.
Officials of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints once again emphasized that the serious fight against witchcraft, superstition, and any acts contrary to Is/la/mic values remains one of their main priorities, and no individual will be allowed to harm religious beliefs and the intellectual well-being of society through such practices.
