Officials (Muhtasibs )of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA in Sayedabad district of Maidan Wardak province, as part of their continued efforts to ensure the Is/la/mic rights of women and prevent harmful customs and traditions, rescued a woman from a forced marriage.
Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue in Maidan Wardak stated that the woman’s family intended to marry her off without her consent, based on incorrect traditions that are contrary to Is/la/mic law. After the woman approached the Department for the Promotion of Virtue in Sayedabad district and filed her complaint, the staff of the department, in cooperation with tribal elders and religious scholars, prevented the marriage from taking place.
While reviewing the case, officials of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue in the province emphasized that protecting the Is/la/mic rights of women is one of their fundamental responsibilities, and they will not allow anyone to violate the legitimate rights of women.
