In Balkh province officials have arrested a person involved in fortune-telling, along with the tools used for fortune-telling

Officials of the Ministry in Balkh Province have arrested a man accused of practicing witchcraft in Sholgara District, as part of their ongoing activities. 
The man had reportedly been creating disputes and problems among families for a long time under the pretext of spiritual healing and amulets, while carrying out acts of Witchcraft and sorcery in exchange for money. 
He was arrested along with a large number of books on magic and allegedly un-Islamic amulets.
According to the officials (Muhtasibs), the individual was arrested along with various tools and materials used for witchcraft and sorcery.
He had reportedly been taking money from local residents under the pretext of resolving family disputes and problems, while engaging in prohibited practices involving magic and sorcery. He will be referred to judicial and legal authorities for further investigation.
The officials have stated that they will not allow anyone to engage in superstitious or un-Islamic practices in society. They have also urged the public to cooperate with morality police in eliminating such prohibited activities.
This comes after the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice and Hearing Complaints of IEA, imposed a ban on witchcraft-related activities. Since then, thousands of individuals accused of practicing witchcraft have reportedly been arrested and referred to judicial and legal authorities for rulings in accordance with Sharia law.
