Weekly Summary of the Activities of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing the Complaints of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan
The Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing the Complaints of IEA, in accordance with Islamic principles and through the implementation of reform-oriented programs, has undertaken effective activities aimed at promoting virtues, preventing vices, strengthening Islamic brotherhood, ensuring the Sharia-based rights of the people particularly women and combating practices contrary to Islamic law.
1. Addressing Women’s Sharia Rights
In order to implement Islamic Sharia rulings and ensure the Sharia rights of women, officials of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints addressed 107 cases involving women during the past week. As a result, 53 cases of injustice against women and 13 cases of forced marriage were prevented. In addition, 10 inheritance cases were reviewed, the dowry rights of 8 women were restored, 11 alimony cases were addressed, arrangements were made for 5 lawful marriages, and 7 divorce cases received the necessary attention.
2. Combating Witchcraft
In an effort to protect Islamic values, safeguard the religious beliefs of society, and prevent practices considered contrary to Islamic Sharia, officials of the ministry identified and arrested 9 individuals accused of witchcraft during the past week in the provinces of Kabul, Balkh, Parwan, Kapisa, and Farah.
3. Resolving Disputes and Hostilities
Officials of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints, with the aim of strengthening Islamic brotherhood, promoting peace, and reconciling disputing parties, successfully resolved 11 cases of long-standing hostility and 64 family, ethnic, and local disputes during the past week. The cases were settled on the basis of Islamic Sharia rulings through mutual understanding and reconciliation.
4. Economic Meetings
With the aim of regulating markets, preventing hoarding, controlling prices, addressing the sale of low-quality and expired goods, and protecting consumer rights, the ministry’s inspectors held 152 reformative meetings during the past week with traders, industrialists, shopkeepers, and economic actors in various provinces across the country.
5. Public Meetings
In the latest development, inspectors of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints have held nearly 500 reformative and guidance meetings across the country, with the participation of religious scholars, tribal elders, young people, and various segments of society. The meetings were aimed at promoting Islamic practices, implementing Sharia rulings, encouraging virtuous conduct, and preventing actions considered immoral or prohibited.
