Weekly Summary of Activities of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints
Officials (Muhtasivbs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, within the framework of implementing the rulings of Islamic Sh/ar/,ia and in cooperation with various segments of society, carried out extensive and effective activities over the past week aimed at strengthening religious values, ensuring social order, promoting virtuous practices, and preventing vice.
1. Addressing Women’s Sh/ar/,ia Rights:
During the reporting week, ministry officials handled 128 cases related to women’s Sh/ar/,ia rights. Among these, 75 instances of injustice were prevented, 18 cases concerning women’s inheritance were reviewed, 11 cases of forced marriage were prevented, 8 dowries were restored, 5 cases of alimony were addressed, arrangements were made for 6 lawful marriages, and 5 divorce cases were processed. 2. Resolution of Disputes and Conflicts:
The ministry’s inspectors, in cooperation with religious scholars and community elders, successfully resolved 9 cases of longstanding enmity and 60 major and minor disputes among tribes and families in the capital and several provinces, in accordance with Sh/ar/,ia principles and standards.
3. Detention of Practitioners of Sorcery:
As part of efforts to safeguard Is/la,mic values and prevent practices deemed contrary to Sh/ar/,ia, ministry officials (Muhtasibs) detained 11 individuals accused of sorcery in the provinces of Daikundi, Sar-e Pol, Nangarhar, Balkh, Helmand, Kabul, and Logar. The individuals were referred to judicial authorities following preliminary investigations.
4. Economic Coordination Meetings:
To prevent hoarding, ensure accurate weights and measures, and promote compliance with Sh/ar/,ia principles in trade, ministry inspectors held 192 coordination and reform meetings with traders and shopkeepers across various provinces during the week.Additionally, nearly twenty tons of substandard and expired food items were collected from markets and destroyed.
5. Public Outreach Meetings:
