Three People Arrested on Charges of Stealing People’s Property and Money During Market Inspections by Hisbah Officers in Balkh Province

Three people were arrested in Dawlatabad District of Balkh Province by officials (Muhtasibs) from the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, in coordination with intelligence forces, on charges of stealing people’s money and property.

Officials (Muhtasibs) in Balkh said the suspects had been regularly moving around local markets and taking advantage of opportunities to steal money and belongings from citizens.

Following monitoring activities by personnel (Muhtasibs) and cooperation with security forces, the suspects were identified and arrested.

The officials emphasized that theft is prohibited under Islamic Sharia, stating that unlawfully taking people’s property is considered a forbidden and reprehensible act.

They added that Islam emphasizes protecting people’s lives, property, and dignity, and calls on Muslims to uphold trust, respect others’ rights, and refrain from injustice and wrongdoing.

Following preliminary investigations, the arrested individuals were handed over to the relevant authorities in Dawlatabad District for further investigation and legal proceedings, and remain in custody.
