Officials(Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, in an effort to protect Islamic values and address public complaints, have arrested three individuals accused of practicing sorcery in the provinces of Nangarhar and Balkh.

In Balkh province, officials of the Ministry in Balkh district arrested two individuals who had allegedly been practicing sorcery for several years, following numerous complaints from local residents.

Similarly, in Nazyan district of Nangarhar province, officials arrested one well-known individual who had been practicing sorcery for several years. He was apprehended while engaging in the act.

The arrested individuals reportedly provided amulets to people with the intention of creating enmity among community members and received money in exchange. After the completion of investigations, they were referred to judicial authorities.

The arrest of these three individuals follows the detention of nine others in the previous week by muhtasibs in several provinces on similar charges.
