Six women were rescued from domestic violence in the provinces of Paktia and Logar
Inspectors (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, in Logar and Paktia provinces have helped six women obtain their rights and prevented abuses in this area.
These women had been facing difficulties due to harmful traditional practices and had been deprived of their Sh/ar/ia-based rights.
According to the inspectors (Muhtasibs), the women had been subjected to mistreatment by their families for a long time on the basis of harmful customs and misplaced notions of honor, and had been denied all of their legitimate rights.
Through the efforts of the inspectors (Muhtasibs), they were rescued from these circumstances and granted their rights.
The inspectors further stated that they are fully committed to ensuring that women receive their Sh/ar/ia-based rights and will not allow anyone to violate those rights.
It is worth noting that the ministry’s inspectors have handled thousands of cases related to women’s rights across the country.
These cases have included disputes concerning inheritance, domestic violence, bride price (Walwar), giving women in settlement of disputes (Baad), and non-Sh/ar/ia compliant marriages, many of which have been resolved.
