As part of the ongoing efforts of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, to safeguard Islamic values, preserve sound religious beliefs, and prevent acts considered contrary to Islamic law, seven individuals accused of practicing sorcery were arrested in the provinces of Parwan and Ghazni.

Local officials from the Ministry in the two provinces stated that the suspects were identified and apprehended through the efforts of the ministry's officials (Muhtasibs), in cooperation with local residents, while allegedly deceiving vulnerable people in Jabal al-Siraj District of Parwan Province and in the provincial capital of Ghazni.

After the completion of preliminary procedures, they were referred to the relevant judicial authorities for legal and Sharia-based proceedings.

Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry emphasized that sorcery, fortune-telling, and similar claims are rejected under Islamic Sharia, arguing that such practices facilitate the deception of the public, weaken Islamic beliefs, and undermine the intellectual security of society. They added that efforts to combat such phenomena within the framework of Islamic law will continue.

Meanwhile, a number of residents of Parwan and Ghazni provinces expressed support for the Muhtasibs' efforts to prevent the spread of superstition and the exploitation of people's beliefs.

They stated that some individuals, by claiming to practice sorcery and fortune-telling, take advantage of people's hardships and needs, causing financial losses and creating concern among families.
