Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, through its officials (Muhtasibs) in Takhar and Faryab provinces, has demonstrated commitment to women’s rights.
Based on the six-article decree issued by the Honorable Amir/ al Mu/mi/ni/ n, and with the aim of safeguarding women’s rights, they ensured that women received their rightful Islamic shares of inheritance and dowry (mahr).
These were cases that had remained unresolved for a long time, where women had been unable to obtain their rights from their brothers.
Officials (Muhtasibs) stated that these women had been requesting their inheritance and dowry rights from their brothers for a long time, but despite many efforts, they had not succeeded in obtaining their legitimate rights. With the efforts of the Muhtasibs, they were finally able to receive what was rightfully theirs under Islamic law.
The officials further added that they will continue to work with full capacity to ensure that all Islamic rights of women are upheld and will not allow anyone to engage in violent or abusive behavior against women.
It is worth mentioning that officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints have, across the country, saved thousands of women from domestic violence, house confinement, forced or un-Islamic marriages, and suicide, and have enabled hundreds of women to receive their rightful inheritance and dowry.
