Resolution of 14 Sharia-Related Cases Involving Women and Prevention of Forced Marriages of Four Girls in Five Provinces

Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, have comprehensively addressed 14 cases related to dowries, maintenance, and divorce in the provinces of Takhar, Nangarhar, Balkh, Ghazni, and Nimroz.

In accordance with the rulings of Islamic Sharia, they have ensured that the affected women receive their Sharia-based rights.

Furthermore, officials from the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue have prevented the forced marriages of four more women in the provinces of Nangarhar, Balkh, and Takhar.

They have also held reconciliation and awareness-raising meetings with the families involved.

During these meetings, the inspectors (Muhtasibs) referred to verses of the Holy Quran and the sayings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to provide guidance and raise awareness about women's rights under Sharia, the importance of consent in marriage, and the religious responsibilities of families.

They also urged families to observe divine commandments when arranging marriages for their children, refrain from any form of forced marriage, and fully respect women's Sharia-based rights.

During these meetings, officials of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints emphasized that respecting people's rights under Sharia, preventing forced marriages of women, and resolving family disputes in accordance with the teachings of Islam are among their key responsibilities in promoting virtue and preventing vice in society.
