Officials from the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, inspected 225 hospitals and clinics across six provinces
Inspectors (Muhtasibs) from the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, monitored 225 hospitals and clinics across six provinces of Afghanistan to ensure the implementation of the Law on the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, compliance with decrees issued by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate, the promotion of Islamic values, and improvements in healthcare service delivery to patients.
The inspections (Muhtasibs) were conducted in Kandahar, Takhar, Nuristan, Samangan, Farah, and Laghman provinces.
Their stated objectives included assessing compliance with Islamic Sharia principles, implementation of the Law on the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, and respect for patients’ rights in healthcare facilities.
During the inspections, ministry inspectors examined hospitals and clinics to assess their adherence to religious values and Sharia principles.
They also emphasized the responsibility of healthcare workers to provide appropriate medical services, respect patients’ rights, and deliver quality care to their fellow citizens.
Officials (Muhtasibs) of the ministry in the aforementioned provinces stated that these inspections were being carried out to strengthen compliance with Islamic Sharia principles, implement the Law on the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, and ensure that healthcare services are provided in accordance with religious values.
They further stressed the importance of healthcare workers fulfilling their religious and professional responsibilities and paying due attention to patients’ needs.
They described the monitoring of healthcare facilities as part of broader efforts to maintain Sharia-based order and improve service delivery to the public.
It is worth noting that monitoring hospitals and clinics to assess compliance with Islamic principles and implementation of the Law on the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice is among the responsibilities of the ministry’s inspectors (Muhtasibs).
