The Muhtasibs rescued 23 women from domestic violence in five provinces
In the provinces of Balkh, Baghlan, Ghor, Zabul, and Takhar, the Muhtasibs have protected 23 women who had been subjected to mistreatment by their husbands and family members from domestic violence and helped ensure that they received their Sharia-based rights, as part of efforts to safeguard women’s rights and prevent mistreatment of women in society.
Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice said that the women had been facing severe domestic violence as a result of prolonged mistreatment.
Through the efforts of the Muhtasibs, they were reunited with their husbands and enabled to receive their Sharia-based rights.
The officials (Muhtasibs) added that the cases involved domestic abuse, maintenance (Nafaqa), confinement within the home, bride price (walwar), inheritance, and other related issues, all of which were resolved by the Muhtasibs. They said that serious efforts to ensure women’s rights are continuing.
