In Samangan, inspectors (Muhtasibs), as part of efforts to prevent superstitious practices, arrested two alleged sorcerers in Khulm District.

According to the report, the two individuals were accused of using so-called spiritual healing (blowing prayers) and amulets as a cover for practicing magic, creating conflict and problems among families, and carrying out acts of sorcery in exchange for money.

They were reportedly arrested along with a number of books on magic and amulets described as non-compliant with Islamic law.

Officials (Muhtasibs) in the province stated that the two alleged sorcerers, whom they described as dangerous, had been deceiving local people by claiming they could solve family problems while charging them money for their services.

The officials (Muhtasibs) added that the suspects would be referred to the relevant judicial and legal authorities for further investigation.

The inspectors (Muhtasibs) also stated that they would not allow anyone to engage in superstitious or practices they consider contrary to Is/la/mic law within society.

They called on the public to cooperate with them in eliminating such practices.

Meanwhile, some local residents said they consider the presence of the inspectors essential for improving and reforming society.
