A man who had allegedly been engaged for years in practices considered contrary to Islamic Sharia, including sorcery and witchcraft, was arrested yesterday by personnel (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing the Complaints of IEA, in Shinwari District of Parwan Province.

He was reportedly found in possession of books and materials related to sorcery. Following an initial investigation, he was referred to the judicial and prosecutorial authorities in the province.

Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry in Parwan Province stated that the practice of sorcery and witchcraft is contrary to Islamic principles and harms the religious beliefs and spiritual well-being of citizens.

The Ministry's personnel (Muhtasibs) in the province added that safeguarding the spiritual and religious well-being of the public is among their priorities and that they will take firm action against individuals who exploit practices deemed contrary
