Inspectors (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice have arrested a man accused of practicing sorcery in Balkh province.

The individual allegedly created discord and problems among families under the pretext of performing spiritual healing and providing amulets, while charging people money to carry out acts of witchcraft and sorcery.

He was arrested along with a large number of books on sorcery and amulets deemed contrary to Sharia.

Officials (Muhtasibs) stated that, following complaints from local residents, the accused was arrested along with books and tools allegedly used for sorcery.

He reportedly took money from people under the pretext of resolving family problems and engaged in prohibited practices.

Officials (Muhtasibs) added that he would be referred to the relevant judicial and legal authorities for further investigation.

The inspectors (Muhtasibs) also reaffirmed that they would not allow anyone to engage in superstitious or un-Islamic practices in society.

They urged the public to cooperate with the inspectors in combating such practices.
