Officials (Muhtasibs) from the Fifth Police District of Kabul, under the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, have arrested a man accused of practicing sorcery and blackmailing young women over the phone.

Authorities allege that he exploited women by claiming he could resolve their family problems.

According to officials from the ministry's Fifth Police District office, the suspect had allegedly been engaged in witchcraft and sorcery for several years.

They claim he used telephone calls to blackmail young women and exploit them.

The suspect has been detained and will be referred to the relevant judicial and legal authorities for further investigation.

Officials (Muhtasibs) also stated that they confiscated photographs and videos of young women, as well as items they described as "non-Sharia-compliant" incantations and amulets.

They allege that the suspect used these materials to extort money from the women and facilitate their exploitation.

The ministry further noted that, a few days earlier, its officials had arrested another individual in Kabul's 18th district on allegations of practicing sorcery.

According to the ministry, items allegedly used for witchcraft were seized, and the suspect was referred to the judicial authorities for further legal proceedings.
