Officials (Muhtasibs) from the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Faryab Province report that, over the past two weeks, ministry officers have assisted 17 women in the provincial center and surrounding districts in reclaiming their Sharia-based rights.

These women had previously been deprived of their rights due to domestic violence and harmful traditional practices.

According to the officers, the women had endured long-term mistreatment and denial of their rights under such customs. Through the intervention of the morality officers, they were supported and their rights were restored.     Provincial authorities added that many of these cases involved women who had been subjected to continuous psychological and physical abuse by their husbands.

The officers not only intervened to protect them but also obtained commitments from the husbands to refrain from such abusive behavior in the future.

Officials further noted that the ministry’s provincial representatives regularly hold awareness and reform sessions with local communities to promote women’s rights and improve public understanding. These efforts, they say, have led to noticeable progress in this area.
