Arrest of a professional sorcerer by officials of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue in Faryab Province

Department of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing the Complaints of IEA, in Faryab Province has reported that its Muhtasibs, in an effort to prevent superstitions, protect Islamic values, and combat social corruption, have arrested a skilled sorcerer in Maimana city, the provincial capital. The individual had been performing un-Isl,am,ic rituals for several years and taking money from people.

Officials from the department stated that the sorcerer, who had been engaged in unlawful practices, was detained by the Muhtasibs.After confessing to his actions, he was referred to judicial and legal authorities for a decision in accordance with Isl,am.ic law.

Meanwhile, local residents have praised the efforts of the Muhtasibs and urged them to take further swift measures to prevent other forms of wrongdoing in society, including cracking down on sorcerers, so that society can be cleansed of superstitious beliefs and social corruption can be reduced.

This comes as the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints has already banned such practices, and thousands of sorcerers have reportedly been arrested and handed over to legal authorities across the country.
