In Balkh Province, a woman obtained her Shariah right to mahr (dower) through the efforts of the Muhtasibs
Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue in Balkh Province, reaffirming their commitment to protecting women's rights and acting in accordance with the six-article decree issued by His Excellency Amir al/Mu/mi/nin on safeguarding women's rights, ensured that a woman received her Sh/ar/iah right to dower (walwar/bride price) after her case had remained unresolved with her relatives for a long period.
Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry in the province stated that the woman, who had already been married to another man, had been denied her lawful dower by her brothers.
Through the efforts of the Muhtasibs (inspectors), she was ultimately able to obtain her Sh/ar/hia right.
The Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints further emphasized that it remains fully committed to ensuring that women receive all of their Sh/ar/ia rights.
The Ministry also stressed that it will not allow anyone to engage in any form of violence or abusive treatment against women.
