Summary of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints Activities During One Week
The Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, within the framework of implementing the rulings of Is/la/mic Sh/ar/ia and in cooperation with various segments of society, has carried out extensive and effective activities aimed at strengthening religious values, maintaining social order, promoting virtues, and preventing vices.
Addressing the Sharia-Based Rights of Women
During the past week, personnel of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints handled 97 cases related to the Sharia-based rights of women. These cases included preventing 53 cases of abuses against women, reviewing 10 inheritance cases involving women, preventing 8 cases of forced marriage, restoring 9 dowries to their rightful recipients, addressing 7 alimony cases, facilitating 4 lawful Islamic marriages, and processing 6 divorce cases in accordance with Islamic Sharia.
Resolution of Disputes and Conflicts
During the week, the Ministry’s inspectors, in cooperation with religious scholars, tribal elders, and local community leaders, successfully resolved 14 cases of enmity and 41 major and minor disputes among families and communities in Kabul and a number of provinces across the country.
Detention of Individuals Accused of Sorcery
In an effort to safeguard Islamic values and prevent the spread of practices considered contrary to Sharia, six individuals accused of sorcery were detained during the week in the provinces of Kabul, Jawzjan, Bamyan, Maidan Wardak, and Nangarhar. Following preliminary investigations, the accused were referred to the relevant judicial and legal authorities for further proceedings in accordance with Sharia.
Economic and Monitoring Meetings
To prevent hoarding, fraud in weights and measures, and to ensure compliance with Sharia principles in commercial transactions, 195 reform and coordination meetings were held with traders and business owners across various provinces during this period.
Public Meetings and Awareness Programs
As part of the Ministry’s reform and outreach efforts to promote virtues, prevent vices, and combat undesirable customs and traditions, 389 public awareness and reform meetings were conducted nationwide during the week. These gatherings were attended by respected religious scholars, tribal elders, youth, and other members of society.
