In Nangarhar Province, Muhtasibs saved a woman from an un-Islamic marriage
The inspectors (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing the Complaints of IEA, in Nangarhar Province, in line with their commitment to protecting women's rights, rescued a woman whose family members intended to marry her off without her consent in exchange for a large sum of money and due to harmful traditional practices.
The woman was about to be forced into marriage against her will as a result of harmful customs and financial arrangements.
The process was stopped after she filed a complaint with the provincial Department for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints seeking resolution of her case.
It is worth noting that officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints consider the protection of women's rights a priority and have assured that they will not allow anyone to violate or infringe upon the rights of women.
