Three cases of forced marriage involving women were prevented in the provinces of Sar-e Pol and Samangan
Inspectors (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing the Complaints of IEA, in Sar-e Pol and Samangan provinces, in their commitment to protecting women's rights, rescued three women whose family members intended to marry them off against their will in exchange for large sums of money and due to harmful traditional practices.
These women were being forced into marriage without their consent as a result of harmful customs and the payment of substantial bride prices.
The situation was prevented after the women filed complaints with the provincial Departments of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints in their respective provinces, seeking resolution of their cases.
It is worth noting that the officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints consider the protection of women's rights a priority and affirm that they will not allow anyone to violate or undermine the rights of women
