Arrest of five practitioners of sorcery by Muhtasibs in Zabul and Daikundi provinces
Personnel (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing the Complaints of IEA, within the framework of enforcing the provisions of Is/la/mic Sh/ar/ia and preventing any acts contrary to religious values, have arrested five individuals accused of practicing sorcery in the provinces of Zabul and Daikundi.
The accused individuals were identified and detained following numerous complaints from citizens and preliminary investigations conducted by the ministry’s personnel. Several items and books allegedly used in the practice of sorcery were also recovered from their possession. Local officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints in the aforementioned provinces stated that the detained individuals had been using methods commonly referred to as sorcery and exploiting people's religious beliefs to obtain large sums of money from the public.
After the completion of legal procedures, the suspects were referred to the relevant judicial and legal authorities for Sh/ar/ia-based adjudication.
