Summary of the Ministry for the Promoyion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints' Activities During the Past Week

Personnel (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, in light of the principles of Is/la/mic Sh/ar/ia and within the framework of their religious responsibilities, carried out a range of effective activities during the past week in cooperation with religious scholars, tribal elders, and other segments of society. These efforts were aimed at strengthening Is/la/mic values, maintaining social order, promoting virtue, and preventing vice.

1. Addressing Women's Sh/ar/ia Rights

During the past week, the Ministry's personnel (Muhtasibs) handled 73 cases related to the Sh/ar/ia rights of women. As a result of these efforts, 45 cases of injustice against women were prevented, 9 cases concerning women's inheritance rights were reviewed, 4 forced marriages were prevented, the dowry rights of 6 women were restored, 4 maintenance cases were addressed, the arrangements for 3 Sh/ar/ia-compliant marriage contracts were facilitated, and 2 divorce cases were processed in accordance with the provisions of Is/la/mic Sh/ar/ia.

2. Resolution of Disputes and Conflicts

The Ministry's Muhtasibs, in cooperation with religious scholars and tribal elders, successfully resolved 9 cases of longstanding enmity and 40 major and minor disputes among families and tribes in Kabul and a number of provinces during the past week. These efforts played an important role in strengthening unity, promoting Is/la/mic brotherhood, and preventing the escalation of conflicts.

3. Arrest of Individuals Accused of Sorcery

As part of efforts to safeguard Is/la/mic beliefs and prevent practices considered contrary to Is/la/mic Sh/ar/ia, five individuals accused of practicing sorcery were arrested by the Ministry's muhtasibs in the provinces of Kabul, Maidan Wardak, Balkh, and Nangarhar during the past week. Following preliminary investigations, the suspects were referred to the relevant judicial and legal authorities for further Sh/ar/ia-based legal proceedings.

4. Economic and Supervisory Meetings

To prevent hoarding, fraud in weights and measures, and to ensure compliance with Sh/ar/ia principles in commercial transactions, the Ministry's personnel (Muhtasibs) conducted 124 reform, coordination, and supervisory meetings with traders, shopkeepers, and other economic actors across various provinces during the past week.

5. Public Gatherings and Awareness Programs

As part of its ongoing reform and outreach activities, the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints organized 219 public reform and awareness sessions during the past week. These gatherings, attended by religious scholars, tribal elders, youth, and other members of society in Kabul and across the provinces, were held with the aim of promoting virtue, preventing vice, combating undesirable customs, and enhancing the community's religious awareness.
