Summary of the Activities of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing Complaints During the Month of Jawza of the Current Year

The Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing Complaints, in accordance with the provisions of Is/la/mic Sh/ar/ia and through the implementation of reform programs, has carried out effective and valuable activities aimed at promoting virtuous conduct, preventing immoral acts, strengthening Is/la/mic brotherhood, ensuring the religious rights of the people—especially women—and combating actions that are contrary to Is/la/mic law.

Addressing the Sh/ar/ia Rights of Women

In line with the implementation of Is/la/mic Sh/ar/ia rulings and the protection of women's legitimate rights, personnel (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints handled 450 cases related to women's Sh/ar/ia rights during the month of Jawza of the current year.

These cases included: 216 cases of oppression and injustice,71 inheritance cases,45 cases of forced marriage, 29 dowry  cases,29 cases of non-payment of maintenance ,27 cases involving facilitation of lawful marriages for girls, and 22 divorce cases.

Resolution of Disputes and Enmities

To strengthen the spirit of brotherhood, Is/la/mic unity, and social peace, personnel (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints resolved 55 long-standing enmities and 243 major and minor disputes among families, tribes, and residents of different parts of the country during the month of Jawza. These issues were settled in accordance with Is/la/mic principles and through mutual understanding and reconciliation.

Arrest of Sorcerers

As part of efforts to safeguard religious values and protect the community’s faith and beliefs, personnel (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints identified and arrested 45 individuals on charges of practicing sorcery in Kabul and a number of other provinces during the month.

Economic Meetings

To prevent hoarding, monitor prices, stop the sale of low-quality and expired goods, and protect consumer rights, inspectors conducted 654 reformative meetings with traders, industrialists, shopkeepers, and economic actors across various provinces during Jawza.

In addition, more than 15 tons of low-quality and expired food products were collected from markets and destroyed after the completion of legal procedures.

 Public Awareness Meetings

To promote virtuous conduct, prevent immoral practices, and raise public awareness, personnel (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints held 1,376 reformative meetings throughout the country during the month of Jawza. These meetings were attended by religious scholars, tribal elders, youth, and various segments of society.
