Summary of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints’ Activities During the Past Week
The Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, within the framework of implementing the provisions of Is/la/mic Sh/ar/ia and in cooperation with various segments of society, has carried out extensive and effective activities aimed at strengthening religious values, maintaining social order, promoting virtuous conduct, and preventing immoral practices.
Addressing the Is/la/mic Rights of Women
During the current week, personnel of the Ministry addressed 131 cases related to the Is/la/mic rights of women.
These efforts included preventing 58 cases of violence and abuses against women, examining 15 inheritance cases involving women, preventing 17 forced marriages, restoring 14 dowries to their rightful recipients, addressing 8 alimony cases, facilitating 11 Is/la/mic marriages, and handling 8 divorce cases in accordance with Is/la/mic Sh/ar/ia.
Resolution of Disputes and Conflicts
During the week, the Ministry’s inspectors, in cooperation with respected religious scholars, tribal elders, and community leaders, successfully resolved 12 cases of long-standing enmity and 62 major and minor disputes among families and tribes in Kabul and several provinces across the country.
Detention of Individuals Accused of Sorcery
As part of efforts to safeguard Is/la/mic values and prevent the spread of practices contrary to Is/la/mic teachings, nine individuals accused of sorcery were detained during the week in the provinces of Kabul, Faryab, Parwan, Ghazni, Balkh, Takhar, and Daikundi. Following preliminary investigations, the accused were referred to the relevant judicial and legal authorities for further proceedings in accordance with Sh/ar/ia.
Economic and Regulatory Meetings
To prevent hoarding, fraud in weights and measures, and to ensure compliance with Is/la/mic principles in commercial transactions, 211 reform and coordination meetings were held with traders and business owners in various provinces during the reporting period.
In addition, nearly two tons of low-quality and expired food products were collected from markets and destroyed.
Public Gatherings and Awareness Programs
As part of the Ministry’s ongoing reform and outreach efforts to promote virtuous conduct, prevent immoral practices, and combat harmful customs, 423 reform and awareness-raising meetings were held across the country during the week.
These gatherings were attended by respected religious scholars, tribal elders, youth, and other members of society
