Summary of the Activities of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing The Complaints of IEA, During the Past Week
The Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing the Complaints of IEA, within the framework of implementing Is/la/mic Sh/ar/ia and in cooperation with various segments of society, has carried out extensive and effective activities aimed at strengthening religious values, maintaining social order, promoting virtuous conduct, and preventing wrongdoing.
Addressing Women's Sh/ar/ia Based Rights
During the past week, personnel (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry addressed 137 cases related to the Sh/ar/ia-based rights of women. Among these:
61 cases of injustice against women were prevented, 22 inheritance-related cases involving women were examined, 18 cases of forced marriage were prevented, 12 Dowries cases were restored, 10 cases related to financial maintenance were addressed, the conditions for 8 lawful Is/la/mic marriages were facilitated, Necessary action was taken in 6 divorce cases.
Resolution of Disputes and Hostilities
With the cooperation of religious scholars and community elders, the Ministry's Muhtasibs successfully resolved 15 cases of enmity and 69 major and minor disputes among tribes and families in Kabul and several provinces across the country, in accordance with Is/la/mic principles.
Arrest of Individuals Accused of Sorcery
As part of efforts to safeguard Is/la/mic values and prevent the spread of practices considered contrary to Sh/ar/ia, 13 individuals accused of practicing sorcery were arrested during the past week in the provinces of Kabul, Balkh, Takhar, Farah, Samangan, Sar-e Pol, Ghor, and Zabul.
Following preliminary investigations, the individuals were referred to the judicial and legal authorities for further Sh/ar/ia based legal proceedings.
Holding Economic Coordination Meetings
To prevent hoarding, fraud in weights and measures, and to ensure compliance with Is/la/mic principles in commercial transactions, a total of 187 reform and coordination meetings were held with traders and business owners in various provinces of the country during this period.
In addition, nearly 5 tons of low-quality and expired food products were collected from markets and destroyed.
Public Awareness and Educational Sessions
As part of the continued efforts of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing Complaints to promote virtuous conduct, prevent wrongdoing, and combat harmful social customs, a total of 364 reform and public awareness sessions were held across the country during the past week.
These sessions were attended by religious scholars, tribal elders, youth representatives, and members of various segments of society, with the aim of raising public awareness and encouraging adherence to Is/la/mic and social values.
