Arrest of a sorcerer following public complaints in Farah Province
An individual accused of practicing sorcery and exploiting the religious beliefs of the public was arrested yesterday by personnel of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, in Bala Buluk District of Farah Province.
The suspect was apprehended following complaints filed by local residents and subsequent action taken by the Ministry's personnel (Muhtasibs).
According to evidence obtained during the investigation, the accused had allegedly played a role in creating discord among families and disrupting marital relationships.He was also accused of causing harm to the religious and spiritual beliefs of citizens. After the completion of preliminary investigations, the suspect’s case was referred to the relevant judicial and legal institutions for further legal proceedings and the administration of justice in accordance with Sh/ar/ia principles.
Officials of the Ministry in Farah Province emphasized the importance of safeguarding the religious and spiritual well-being of the public.
They stated that individuals who seek personal gain through actions deemed contrary to Is/la/mic Sh/ar/ia or through the exploitation of people’s religious beliefs will be dealt with firmly in accordance with Sh/ar/ia rulings.
The arrest comes at a time when personnel of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints have identified and detained 140 individuals accused of sorcery in Kabul and several other provinces during the last quarter of the year 1447 AH.
