According to the inspectors (Muhtasibs), the group of professional beggars would travel in their private vehicle from Nangarhar Province to Kunar Province and, in addition to begging, were allegedly involved in other un-Is/la/mic activities. They were arrested after local residents filed complaints about them with the Department for the Promotion of Virtue.
The inspectors added that the suspects have been referred to judicial and legal authorities for further investigation.
They also emphasized that no one will be allowed to engage in un-Is/la/mic or harmful activities within society.
This comes as, following the Islamic Emirate’s ban on begging activities in marketplaces, officials from the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue have reportedly arrested numerous professional beggars accused of engaging in un-Is/la/mic and harmful activities in society
