Five women in the provinces of Ghazni, Baghlan, and Maidan Wardak have been rescued from various forms of abuse
Officials from the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA in these provinces reported that, in efforts to ensure women’s rights and prevent harmful practices, five women were saved from different kinds of abuse.
According to the officials, the cases related to women included domestic violence, unlawful confinement at home, denial of alimony (financial support), and inheritance rights—issues from which women had been deprived due to harmful traditional practices. The officials added that they are fully committed to ensuring women receive their rights under Islamic law and will not allow anyone to violate those rights.
It is also worth noting that during the past month of Hamal, the ministry’s officials addressed more than 401 cases across the country related to women’s rights. These included cases of inheritance, domestic violence, bride price (walwar), alimony, unlawful confinement, giving women in bad (forced marriage to settle disputes), and non-Sharia-compliant marriages, all of which were resolved.
