Four cases of forced marriage involving women were prevented in the provinces of Badakhshan, Nangarhar, Maidan Wardak, and Laghman

Consent of both parties is one of the fundamental conditions of a marriage contract in Islam. Accordingly, the Amir al-Mu’minin recently issued a decree to address the problem of forced marriage, instructing the personnel (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing the Complaints of IEA, to not only safeguard women's rights under Islamic law but also prevent the occurrence of forced marriages.
In line with this directive, the ministry's personnel (Muhtasibs) in the provinces of Badakhshan, Nangarhar, Maidan Wardak, and Laghman prevented four cases of forced marriage after receiving complaints from the affected women.
Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints in the above-mentioned provinces stated that these cases were investigated following the receipt of complaints from the women concerned. Subsequently, the ministry's personnel (Muhtasibs) held reformative, advisory, and awareness-raising meetings, encouraging families to observe Islamic rulings, uphold women's rights under Islamic law, and respect the principle of mutual consent in the marriage contract. As a result, four cases of forced marriage were prevented.
The Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, emphasized that addressing citizens' complaints, preventing forced marriages, and protecting the rights that Islamic law grants to women are among its core responsibilities, and that these efforts will continue with determination.
