Officials (Muhtasibs) from the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, have prevented six cases of forced marriage in the provinces of Ghor, Balkh, Farah, and Nangarhar.
The actions were carried out within the framework of their religious responsibilities, in accordance with Islamic Sharia, to address public complaints and safeguard women's rights under Islamic law.
Local officials of the ministry in the aforementioned provinces stated that, following complaints filed by relatives of the affected women, ministry officials (Muhtasibs) investigated the cases.
After reviewing the circumstances, holding discussions with the parties involved, and making efforts to resolve the complaints, they prevented six marriages that would have taken place without the women's consent.
While addressing these cases, ministry officials cited the provisions of Islamic Sharia and emphasized the importance of respecting women's religious rights in marriage.
They stressed that marriage must be conducted in accordance with Islamic principles and with due regard for the rights of both parties, and that no one should force another person into marriage.
The officials (Muhtasibs) also urged families to observe Islamic Sharia when making decisions about their children's marriages, refrain from coercion and practices contrary to Islamic values, and ensure that women's religious rights are respected so that lawful and appropriate marriages can take place.
