In Paktika, two women were rescued from unlawful marriages
The inspectors (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints of IEA, in Paktika Province, demonstrating their commitment to protecting women’s rights, rescued two women in Sharan whose family members intended to force them into marriage against their will in exchange for large sums of money and based on harmful traditional practices. These women, who were being forced into marriage without their consent due to harmful customs and financial motives, were rescued after they submitted complaints to the Directorate for the Promotion of Virtue in the province seeking resolution of their cases.
This comes as the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing of Complaints considers the protection of women’s rights one of its top priorities and assures that it will not allow anyone to violate or undermine the rights of women.
