Three professional sorcerers arrested by the personnel of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, in Kabul and Balkh provinces
Personnel (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Hearing Complaints of IEA, in the provinces of Kabul and Balkh have arrested three professional sorcerers while they were allegedly engaging in acts contrary to Is/la/mic Sh/ar/ia, along with books and documents related to witchcraft.
According to the ministry personnel, the suspects were attempting to create discord and conflict among families through the use of magical tools and sorcery books. With the cooperation of the public, they were apprehended and, after preliminary investigations, referred to the judicial and legal authorities. Officials (Muhtasibs) of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue in the two provinces emphasized that sorcery and witchcraft are considered major sins and clear manifestations of corruption, and that they will take serious action against any activities contrary to Is/la/mic values.
The arrest of these three sorcerers comes as personnel of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue have reportedly detained nearly 50 individuals during the current month for engaging in magical practices and referred them to judicial authorities for the implementation of Sh/ar/ia justice.
